About the Course

This course explores the role of financial technology (FinTech) and digital tools in modern financial decision-making. Participants will examine how digital platforms, mobile applications, and emerging technologies are transforming the way individuals manage money, make payments, invest, and access financial services. Educators will study key topics including digital banking, budgeting applications, online investing platforms, cryptocurrency and blockchain basics, digital payment systems, and financial data privacy. The course also examines how financial technology can expand financial access while introducing new risks related to cybersecurity, digital fraud, and financial misinformation. Emphasis is placed on translating complex financial technology concepts into engaging classroom lessons appropriate for middle and high school students. Through case studies, applied activities, and curriculum design exercises, participants will develop instructional strategies that help students understand digital financial tools and navigate the modern financial ecosystem responsibly. By the end of the course, participants will design a classroom-ready financial literacy mini-unit focused on financial technology and digital financial decision-making.
