About the Course

This course explores the process of criminal law in the justice system, including an examination of how policy issues become a law. It reviews the Penal Code structure focusing on the fundamental differences and elements of crimes. An overview of criminal procedure including aspects of evidence will be surveyed. Students will also explore how the impact of media and other external forces alter public perception of crime and punishment. This course will prepare the student for further inquiry into the role of criminal law actors in justice system practices.
