Vital, recurring concerns in her practice include the social and psychological life of the object, the politics of camouflage and mimesis, and the ethics and aesthetics of the built environment.

She studied at University of Auckland’s Elam School of Fine Arts (BA/BFA 2004) and University of California San Diego (BA majoring in History 2008) and California Institute of the Arts (MFA 2011).
