This class offers a welcoming space for all skill levels to explore the physical, meditative and spiritual dimensions of Aikido. Each class focsues on the fundamentals of movement-stances, footwork, strikes, and the art of Ukemi (the art of the fall or getting out of the way)- while introducing dynamic pins and throws, including work with one of multiple attackers. Students will practice suwariwaza (kneeling techniques), hanmi handachi (half-standing techniques), and tachiwaza (standing techniques), beginning each class with warm-up and conditioning exercises. Instruction emphasizes clean, precise movement, encouraging thoughtful connection with partners and a deeper awareness of breath, balance, and intention. You are invited to discover a modern Japanese martial art that not only builds strength, coordination, and confidence, but also offers a pathway to move more mindfully, beautifully, and with purpose- on and off the mat.
