About this Event
Anti-Blackness is foundational to both the historical structuring and contemporary practices of schooling in the United States. In this talk, Jaleel Howard, Ph.D., draws on qualitative research with Black students to examine how anti-Blackness operates within everyday school practices and institutional structures. Framing Black students as knowledge producers rather than passive subjects of analysis, Dr. Howard highlighs that Black students offer both incisive analyses of institutional harm and practical pathways toward school transformation. By centering their firsthand accounts, this research illuminates critical implications for educator preparation programs committed to serving historically marginalized student populations.
